would if i could but east texas is so far from everywhere these days...i am doing good to get the home commitee (horses, cats and dogsLOL) to allow me to go to nacogdoches, tx. for a 2 day thing. i will be taking a gander at her website and the info presented did stir me to take another look at a style (doma vaquera) that i had admired in the past. my earliest "mentor" was an older (ancient to a 11yr old) in his 80's spanish horseman that took horses into his "round pen" made of adobe solid walls 5-6 ft tall and came out a little later seeming to have worked miracles in my eyes. an original horse whisperer using a round pen before most of us ever heard the terms. his horses handled as if he were connected to them w/a sewing thread--that light and willing. i know now though--not miracles, but--GROUNDWORK, GROUNDWORK AND MORE GROUNDWORK. yeah for old ways by new folks that do it in a way that many more can understand!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just glad we have many clinicians to choose from. Glad that some of them are from the same place I am or close by. Must say something about my part of the country. Anyone read Martin Black's latest article in Western Horseman? He has moved, but he lived just 13 miles from me...lol. Fortunately I have the capability of learning more and I will be at Horse Affairs Feb 15-17 in Boise, Id. to learn even more. Anyone join me?

Lazyt I don't think anyone is begrudging you your opinion here or the fact that you are a Type A personality, etc. I, for one, applaud you for going after what you want and not sitting in a Lazyboy! I've had my fill of those types!! It's just, to me personally, some of your posts come across as very abrasive... and while I know that you have alot of skill and knowledge, being somewhat inconsiderate of other peoples' short-comings by the way you state your opinion, turns people off. It's very difficult to learn from someone who appears to be condescending, even tho that may not be the intent. Perhaps softening your words a bit would be more endearing to the readers of the ES message board and make readers more receptive to your opinions. I enjoy talking 'horse' with others, and value the insight that more experienced riders than I bring to the table... and occasionally I get the opportunity to offer something to someone less knowledgeable than I. However if they appear to be looking down on me because I have less experience, or are sarcastic in answering questions that I ask, I walk away. And this is my last word on this subject. lol I'm throwin the soap box away. :)

Let's get the facts right folks! It was in my post that I said it was THE PROMOTER!! The clinician is not the promoter. How much clearly can I state that!
So for the record yes I am-
OPINIONATED God bless the 1st AMMENDMENT
EDUCATED- God bless my parents for putting me through College even on horseback
COMPETITIVE- God bless my TYPE A personality because I'll be Dam* if I will sit around in a Lazy Boy because I am an Adrenaline Junky
Now read into this post what you may but apparently when I write something it is not read as black and white but construed, miss quoted, in many colors.

Lazytsha, Alice Trindle does not promote a black and white paint. If you care to know something about the lady you might just try meeting her at the ranch before you pass judgement. The ranch is not at the horseshow and on her own turf. It is sad you know so much you can't possibly learn any more! I, on the other hand, wish to keep on learning. Alice describes herself as an "aspiring horsewoman". I guess you are perfect.

That's a great invite Rancher! THANKS!! I'd love to meet you and Jeannie and the other ES'rs from that area. I'm sure I'd learn alot from ya'll! One of these days, I'll have to take you up on that offer-- and SOONER than later! :) That competition in Stephenville sounded like a BLAST! I read about all the fun ya'll have in that neck of the woods and wish I were closer, that's for sure. It seems like all my away time is spent in Denver, since that's where my kids are, and with a new grandson it's even more reason to spend time there. I will change that, I promise.
Yeah, julebar, the clinicians nowadays have to have the ability to appeal to the masses and maintain ENTERTAINMENT value as well as educational, to keep the audience tuned in. So many newbies to the industry that want a quick-fix, fast-learn, magic-stick way to deal with these magnificent creatures... I was one not-so-very-long-ago, but was fortunate enough to have 'old school' mentors who have forgotten more about working with horses than I will EVER have the opportunity to learn. I Thank God everyday for those incredible horsemen & women!!

YES!!!! the dorrance brothers, hunt, brannaman, and i guess i am a little old fashioned but i really do enjoy the way yeates presents his horse and himself when he is teaching. these newer clinicians are really teaching the same methods with maybe just a bit more "public" or "media" in mind. i too have to agree that we need more time and continuity with our horses in place of gimmics and so-called special equipment. but, on the other hand if having that parelli rope makes someone feel more confident about working with their own horse, that can only carry over to being more positive and having the horse sense confidence in its owner in place of timidness and perhaps elicit a stronger "right" response. hey----we can all learn something from anyone, whether it is what to do or what "not" to do. but--even though i have gotten some emails after some of my HIGHLY OPINIONATED comments i hope i have never come across as rude simply from a difference of opinion. i certainly will never hide my profile even though some of those emails were not real sweet. it is all about time w/our horses, time with horse people (who else would understand us) and time to know when to get quiet. i am quieted. God bless ya all!!

Runs, why don't you come on down to Texas some time and play with this fun group of people. There was a bunch of us at a competition in Stephenville yesterday and we had a good time. A couple of them entered and competed for the first time. Some sat and watched, encouraged and cheered for those of us crazy enough to get out there. Esta (paradise lady) was shooting away with her camera and maybe some can get posted soon.
There are all types of personalties on here and each is entitled to their own opinion. In it's simplest form, openly stated opinions are better received when written to support and help others rather than comments aimed at taking others down. Maybe its postive opinions as opposed to negative opinons, or something like that.
