It has been known for centuries that honey is good for such things. It has shown antimicrobial properties. It is also good to assist allergies such as hay fever. HOWEVER, you need LOCAL honey which is from your area, not the commercial ones. Many commercial honey's are from other countries.
Unfortunately the past few summers of severe heat and the past yr of drought have created problems with honey production in TX. I set out 10 hive over a yr ago and and 6 survived. This yr down to 5. No blooms, no honey.
There are reports of honey being discovered in the tombs of Egypt that is still good. If honey crystallizes, place it in a pan of hot water and it will return liquid.
It is great for cooking too!!! Just use half the volume..ie if recipe calls for one cup sugar, use 1/2 cup honey.
