I started taking hyaluronic acid......It also is natural.I helped my arthritis 100 percent. They use it a lot on horses. If fact that is why I got some because of the good results for horses. They use to inject it in the joint. Then
TheaJapanese discovered a way to make the molecule smaller aenabling it to be absorbed by the intestines.
I cannot tell you how well this product worked in 3 weeks.

There was a rather extensive discussion on the topic of joint supplements earlier in the year. It can be found on Page 15 of this message string, entitled "Adequan, Cosequin and Flex/Free Joint Supplemnts,' if you're interested.

I know there are a lot of supplements out there, but if you would like to try something natural, there is a Noni Juice, Equine Essentials, that has glucosamine and chondroitin in it. I have two horses that had joint problems. One from injury, the other from age. They both creaked and popped when they walked. This Noni Juice has just done wonders in a very short time. They both don't 'pop' when they move and are benefitting from the other qualities of the Noni Juice. The kind I get is put out by Cell Tech. It's new on the market, but can probably find it on their website.

Ok, my vote here: I used this on my horse that passed at the ripe old age of 38. This product simply put worked for him. There where times I would run out or couldnt afford to buy it one week or so and I could really see the difference it made in him!! It is called Next Level by Farnam. It comes in liquid, pellet and even capsule form for humans......

Ready,
Everyone's right....we all have our preferred form of supplement and know what works best for our horses and none of them may be right for yours. The Sr. Flex does have all the ingredients you mentioned in it (Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Yucca, Ester C, etc). Check out the ingredients. I've also been told that it's the powder form of Legend but I can't verify if that's a fact or not. And Sunshine is right...it's pricey. BUT it's worth it in my book! After I saw how good my horse feels, I'm tempted to sprinkle a little of it on my cereal in the morning! Haha!
Good luck girl!

Sunshine and Ready,
For the supplements including Yucca try Valley Vet
www.valleyvet.com
Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate works, at least it did on me when I hurt my arm. Tried everything and was down to having surgery but tried them first and I am healed.

I am still researching trying to decide which product is the best. So far here is a little of what I have found about some of the ingredients the products use.
Glucosamine Sulfate- is a joint lubricant, improves fluid consistency, and is an anti-inflammatory. It has been more studied than Glucosamine HCI.
Chondroitin Sulfate- Aids in the repair of damaged cartilage.
MSM- Provides strength to tendons, ligaments, & joint tissues. Also an anti-inflammatory.
Ester C- Is a powerful antioxidant, is ph neutral and does not irritate ulcers and is more absorbent than regular vitamin c.
Yucca- Is an anti-inflammatory
Vitamin E- Is an antioxidant
Thanks for everyone’s input so far… I will appreciate all of your help. I will keep you all posted on what I find..

I agree with Double's comments. Have used Yucca
before. It came in pellet form in 5 lb jars. It is a natural substance coming from the Yucca plant in the southwest. I can't find it anymore though. I also use a heavy pinch of MSN mixed in a molasses sandwich to improve blood flow. The product that Bay mentioned is also good but some products are quite pricey. Keep us posted on your research. Ready,
I am sure you get advice from many different people that have tried a supplement and it worked on their horse but as always what works on one horse may not works on another. It's the old trial and error. Anyway here what was used on my horse after he had a bowed teldon. It's a prescription drug called Legend. It is given in a artery so the vet did it. The medicine is not cheap. About $70 a bottle and can only get obtained with a prescription. Some of the jumpers are using it to lubed the joints so they don't have any problems down the road. I also had good luck with Yucca supplement on a senior horse. Works good on arthritis too. Good luck and hope you find something that works.
