Is a high lope anything like being high in the saddle?

we lope ... or high lope, or haul ass. depenindg on the circumstance, or we may even canter at times , counter canter is always a good thing as well except I was never confused about a counter canter before reading this post hmmmmmm , and as far as gates and diagnal ones gm doesnt open them he has some one else ride shotgun to do it so I KNOW hes confused .

Wow. All this wisdom for the bargain price of $19.95 a month. Oh, and Rancher.. I believe the term used for barrel horses is "haul asss" :)

Do barrel horses canter or what?

How about east meets west - we all can start calling a slow gallop a cantelope and everyone can be happy ;) I'm sure that could be a universal handy dandy politically correct horse term....or at least a good picnic refresher! haha

So far we have learned: Joemike is not capable of much. Colady has a pot that melts and a daughter that does not like the word canter. Evelyn has a confused horse Horseand pony lopes circles not canter circles Slim said something but I’m not what it was Topaz thinks Chaucer is modern. (Is he?) Kad has a gaited horse that travels diagonally at 3 beats and not more than 10 MPH Cowgirlplus is a nice lady and has nice things to say Lazy has a 3 beat gate and has a bad something but I’m not sure what Vince is directionally challenged and does not know how to spell women. Ladies, go back and read what he had to say. Annie has attended horsemanship clinics and gets all messed up with counter stuff Dubg ain’t a cowboy Msapril is honest Juliebar has a smart daughter Rancher2 is a trouble maker and we still don’t know the difference between a canter and lope and if or not it makes any difference. And finally there are a lot of equine high domes around here we have not heard from. Maybe some of them can shed some light for those of us with unwashed minds.

for some reason my daughter sees a big difference: not a real horsey gal but she did follow mom along to a breed show where the WP class was in progress. 1st comment right off----why are they allowed to show a lame horse..........long explanation started then i just said never mind----i have this negative thing about a horse with his head that close to his knees (unless he studied john lyons)!!! last week we attended a gaited horse show----on observation of the horses being ask for a canter the comment "oh, look, how pretty----like rocking horses". so----again my explanation fizzled because i realized i was talking to someone whose last riding experience on her young green equine was cut short by--yup--head down by his knees and he just took advantage of the position----she may have a prejudice against low heads forever.LOL. a great subject to have some fun with........but then we are for the most part speaking english and for those of you who have ever tried to teach it as a second language----well you know firsthand just how funny it can be!!!!!!!!!LOL.
