We are all into alot of different styles and forms of riding here on ES so I thought it would be fun to find out what type and brand of saddle is your favorite and why?
I ride Western and have been using three different types and really can't make up my mind which is my "absolute" favorite but if I had to choose: A Frost Center Ride I got off Ebay. It was handmade at a saddlery out West. It has a steel flex tree and I use a Skito pad with it.
It has no tooling so, easy to clean and maintain. I ride with buckin' rolls and this saddle is round skirt, 23lbs and loaded with D rings for all your trail stuff. It has long strings which I use for forward impulsion (smile). and is 3/4 rigged with a back cinch and 3" horn. The previous owner used it for endurance.
I use it for training and trail and when it's hot I throw a full sheepskin seat cover on and ride it in shorts. Me and mine think it's the best saddle we've ever had.
Also have a Paso (McClellan tree) saddle. My mule takes a Paso tree. Go figure?
And a Sidney Hamilton Aussie w/o horn which fit the Cracker horse I had and IS good for narrower high-withered horses.
