Fry ya might try a vet/chiopracter that also does accupncture, go to avca fer a directery in your area, use a dvm/ chiopracter, they should have stretching exersise to help and special shoes also, this will be a slow recovery, good luck with it. Hoss

Howdy folks. Just wondering if any of y'all have had stifles treated and how. The vet recently recommended an ipac (don't know if that's the proper spelling and i'm sure its just initials of something much longer). This is a course of four injections instead of injecting cortisone. It is more expensive than a cortisone injection but this vet says it is much more successful also. He says that half the horses that have stifle surgery end up needing injections anyway. I put a call in to my old vet who specializes in these things but haven't heard back yet. I am quite limited here as to the treatments offered (in the boonies so-to-speak). The ipac is supposed to work differently than the cortisone injections (of course). I don't want to just cover up a problem or use temporary fixes over and over. Any info/experience y'all have is appreciated! P. S. I am only going to do what is best for my horse I am not pushing the mare and currently she is just a pasture pet as she can't work much. She has been seen by several talented vets and there isn't a question of what is wrong only how do I want to treat it and how much do I want to spend. Any advice is greatly welcom from anyone who has had an experience with an issue such as this. Thanks, Small
