This product that paz is talking about is food grade DE...and if it gets wet you can use it as a lick for horses or animals....and it doesn't lose its propensity for killing cold blooded parasites...not sure about the ants...n fleas...but it is mined in chunks and then ground it does not disentegrate when eaten but passes thru the body of the animal and flies can't live in the manure....I can send anyone literature on this product if they want to know more....I have a master distributorship for food grade DE....I have fed this product for over a year now and the mares produce more milk and no flies in barn and no parasites in manure...Frank

Thanks wannabe! Its good to know which kind to use!!! That link says you can apply it mixed with water though.....and they are selling it as an insecticide. So now I'm curious if water really voids it.

Topaz..a friend of mine told me this: "Please tell Topaz to make sure it is FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth and not "pool" grade. There are TWO different kinds. The kind used for pool will kill her livestock. (probably the stuff the other lady is using in her septic tank is POOL grade - not the edible kind) May also tell her that once it gets wet - all insect killing properties are null - no good." Yep works great in septic tanks or a starter for compost piles. http://www.hydromall.com/happy_grower16.html

A fellow ES member was telling me about this product when I asked in the chatroom about what to put in my yard to kill fleas, but that was also safe for my horses and my dogs that "graze". Has anyone used it? In your yard? As a dewormer? What are your experiences?
