Castor Beans. Seeds are very poisonous, so hard to find, but the plants are actually quite nice. I believe that the roots are what wards off the moles. Don't know if they eat them and die or just don't like them. They make a nice VERY TALL hedge or border, or, I suppose, you could just plant them hither and yon. Good luck.

I'd appeciate any advice on how to rid my yard of moles. They are making furrows everywhere, and my dogs are going nuts trying to dig them up, which makes it even worse. They are also out back in my pasture, but the biggest hassle is in the yard. (The ground here is very sandy, makes for easy digging) Any ideas of an inexpensive way to drive these little beasties away??? Thanks! Jacquie UPDATE: After asking for your suggestions, I tried one and so far, NO MORE MOLES!!! YEAH! With all the recent rains we've had, the grub population sure is thriving, however, the moles haven't returned. I bought a box of mothballs (laundry section at Walmart) and put one or two into each mound, poking them deep with a stick. There were a few new mounds that appeared with in a week or two, and I did this to those also. So far, it's been over 2 months since I've experienced any new places in my yard or pasture. Thanks, Renegadedarlin, for your solution to those little yard demons! Jacquie
