Lazytsha, since you are probably in my part of the country, you can see Alice Trindle at the Horse Affairs in Boise Feb. 15-17. I usually spend the entire weekend there. I am always interested in meeting another horse person so contact me and maybe we can meet there. Rose

I forgot to put in a plug for a gal from eastern Oregon. Her name is Alice Trindle. She grew up on a ranch with 5 brothers. She really knows her horses and has been really helpful for me. If you want to go to her website and see what she is about then go to www.tnthorsemanship.com. She is one heck of a teacher for both human and equine. She puts on some clinics and has some retreats. She doesn't try to sell you anything, just great horsemanship!

I am like others that take a little home from each trainer. Sometimes what I take home is I don't want to do things their way, but none the less I learn something. One thing I see in Parelli is the "look" on his horses faces when he is with them. If you look at the horses faces they are having a good time no matter what they are doing. I haven't seen that look in the horses with other trainers or clinicians. They all get the job done. Horses get bored just like kids if they do the same thing over and over again so it is important to the horse, just like the kid, to keep their attention. Parelli really hits home there! You can see it on the expressions of the horse. He could sell sand on a beach he is so smoothe.....lol He is really a salesman! But it is the look on the horses faces that has sold me. Rose

Chris Cox hands down! But I also like Julie Goodnite. She puts on an excellent clinic too. They have also been covering this topic on the message boards "Road to the horse"

I realize I am late to this stream, however I do have a few comments. I grew up riding without lessons and never trained at all. When I bred my mare this last time I decided I wanted to learn, so with tapes and DVD's I learned about imprinting and training. My colt is a year old this month and I have had so much fun learning to train him. The imprinting made it so much easier. We used Clint Anderson Series on training foals and I went to his Clinic in the fall. For a newcomer I found his DVD perfect..easy to understand with good demonstrations and lots of reiteration. However, I was disappointed in his clinic...I had a hard time understanding him ( bad sound system) and his accent. He is a cocky and talks fast. I learned much more from his DVD's. My colt has been halter broke since 1 week and started jumping cavelettis at 3 months...remember I am a novice....I introduced him to the horse trailer about a month ago and he went right in the first time. For anyone who is a novice ..I recommend Anderson's DVD's. Thanks for all your insight. Blessings, Becca

I agree with you Cowgirlwriter, Chris Cox is one of my favorites. But Clinton Anderson is at the very top of the list for me.

I am surprised that no one listed Chris Cox. He is AMAZING! Another Aussie but not as commercial as Anderson, he is one of the best. Whoop just saw that BK also listed him. I also really love Curt Pate from Montana. Though not as well known as the others, he is just as good. He is just not into all the commercial videos and merchandizing like most og the other clinicians.

Hey Reride, Glad you posted! I checked your site and saw you are only a couple hours from me here in TN. I would love to see Susan Harris. I met her a few years back at a Clicker Training Instructors Seminar and very much enjoyed her. Harry Whitney (http://harrywhitney.com/) will be in Rogersville TN in June at Mendin Fences Farm (http://www.mendinfencesfarm.com/)for 4 weeks. Rider slots are full but you can never have too many auditors. Happy Trails, Kathy

What a bunch of great responses. Thanks! We have some clinics booked and are always looking for other good clinicians for the future. We have an eventing clinic in May with Gretchen Butts and a "Gentle Horsemanship" clinic with Ed Dabney the first weekend in June. Susan E Harris is coming for a Centered Riding Instructors Clinic (the only one in US this year). Info is on my website www.re-ride.com. Please pass the word. We don't make a bunch of money on the clinics but I do need to pay for my new horse somehow!(6 year old App mare)
