The first foal I raised was a 1/2 arabian filly. She went on to top 10 western pleasure. I have owned a couple others thru the years and have always enjoyed them.

hi, I have about 18 arabians/half arabians. I have a Fire an Ice son who is almost finished in reining. He is currently 4th in the standings in the NRHA for rookie Pro. He is doing really well. He will also be competing working cow horse. I love my arabians. They are so versatile and can do anything. Plus, they are people loving horses. Karen

Spooky arabs? No way! Took Sassy to school today and had the farrier shoe her for 110 fifth graders in the parking lot. This was the first time for this farrier to shoe her. He has only trimmed her once before. Traffic going by, all the kids, the newspaper guy under her taking pictures, farrier doing her feet, bells ringing, new surroundings, etc;...and not even a spook in place. She stood, posed, faced, turned...anything we asked of her for those kids today. I was busting my buttons, so proud of my little arab. Like I said before, if you have their trust, you have their heart. Couple of weeks ago I laid down in her stall with the gates open. She stood over me nudging me every once in a while to check on me and then would 'snake neck' any horse that even came remotely close to the barn. Had my own little 'guard horse'.

Howdy! I thought I would "chime" in on this one since I do not have one but two Arabs myself. My first love is now a 32y/o Spanish Arabian that I competed with to GP Level Dressage. When we retired from the Dressage arena I had friends that rode endurance and team penned so I began both endeavors with him. Our first Tevis was when my arab gelding was in his twenties and we still continue team penning while adding in gymkhana. I can not ask for a more loyal, loving, and compassionate companion. BTW, even though we do not compete in enduro anymore he still can whip me on trail with that extended trot of his! No one thinks he is as old as he is. I believe it is all in his heart myself. My second is the one in the pic in my profile. He is a full Egyptian Arab. We began 3 day eventing but I think that sport is too harsh so we stopped. He still continues jump anything you point his nose at (and I do not have to dangle a treat in front of him to do it either). He is also well known in the Parelli world. Over the years I have competed in gymkhana, team penning, and am just beginning in LD enduro. He is the biggest cuddle bunny on this planet (hence the nick Brat Princeling) and he will mooch carrots off anyone who has them. Everyone who comes across my two horses love them and their personalities. I trust both boys with babysitting youngsters at the barn to getting me out of some tense situations on trails. To me there is nothing better than an Arabian. I have been so blessed to have both of them in my life. Hotintojazz

My first horse was a green-broke 3 yr old black Arab gelding. We learned ALOT together and through perserverance and finally 'getting' how to work with a young Arabian (I was in stock horse country and all my cowboy friends said he'd never amount to anything and called him a 'llama'), he became an incredible horse that anyone could ride! He knew the difference between someone who could and couldn't ride and would be the most gentle, quiet horse for those who didn't, especially kids! But he would fire up and be a flashy, fun ride if you asked him to. We rode in & won all types of parades-- even downtown Chicago in the Brach's Christmas parade.... now THAT was a BLAST!!!!! He would pose for pictures when someone from the crowd would ask if they could get a picture of him... what a horse! He was my buddy and soulmate through alot of tough times. WHen I was moving to CO I sold him to a family around Chicago that had 2 young children, and the daughter rode him in everything-- 4-H, endurance, barrels, parades. I miss my Illiamo Halim (Lucky) to this day, but I know that he's loved and well taken care of. I still get occasional updates and pictures from his owners. Would I buy another Arabian? IN A HEARTBEAT

I have a 25 yo arab that has taught me so much about horses and myself. Her name is Sassy (thus the moniker) but she is so far from it. She has given me the kind of human/horse relationship that I used to read about and dream about as a kid (and adult). Arabs are so in tune with their owners and their emotions. I could tell you stories about seeing her on the emotional side too when her feelings were hurt. They truly love their owners. I have two paint/qh that I just got within the past year and wonder about the relationship that will develop between myself and them. My eight yo niece has been riding her by herself since she was three. Sassy used to walk so slow and tiptoe because she knew there was precious cargo on her back, it was neat to see her personality change to accommodate her or the handicap children I put on her. Very sensitive horses. I agree that people have really put a bad name to arab personalities, they just have to be handled differently or you break their spirit/trust. Once that is gone, it takes a long time for them to gain it back.

She sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing! I enjoy hearing how dependable people's Arabians are. It helps break the myth of the psycho Arab that bad handlers have done such a good job of attaching to the breed.

I have a Arab-oldenburg. of all my horses I would trust to put a kid on her .. Shes is a great babysitter as long as you stay out of her mouth. among my warmbloods, quarter horses and a paint I will always enjoy her when i go for long rides . she has the strength, courage, and a good honest horse. and very intelligent!!
